An 87-year-old man was charged Wednesday with murder for allegedly stabbing his roommate and dumping his body in a Long Beach alley on New Year’s Eve.
Ernest Weston is accused of stabbing Todd Dalon Dunlap, 45. A co- defendant, 58-year-old James Leonard Pettie, then allegedly helped Weston dump the body in an alley near the 900 block of Elm Street, where it was found around 6:30 a.m. Sunday, according to police and prosecutors.
In addition to a murder charge, Weston has been charged with the special allegation that he personally used a deadly and dangerous weapon, a knife, during the commission of the crime.
Pettie was charged with being an accessory after the fact.
Prosecutors said Weston and Dunlap were roommates at a home in the 400 block of East Fifth Street.
The stabbing was the result of a dispute between Dunlap and the defendants, according to police, but additional details have not been released.
Weston faces up to 26 years to life in prison, while Pettie is facing three years in county jail, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
