A 26-year-old man accused of strangling his mother in Orange was charged Wednesday with murder.
Brandon Gabriel Sanchez, who’s being held in lieu of $1 million bail, called police about 2:45 p.m. Monday to report that he strangled his 53-year- old mother, Jamie Greene, during a dispute, according to Orange police Sgt. Phil McMullin.
Greene was attacked at 5823 E. Ridgemont Court, where she lived with her son and her husband, who is the suspect’s stepfather, McMullin said. Sanchez remained on scene until police arrived, the sergeant said.
Sanchez’s arraignment Wednesday was rescheduled for Aug. 25. He also faces probation violation allegations.
He pleaded guilty April 12 of last year to possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of drugs, all misdemeanors, and was placed on three years of informal probation and ordered to participate in a drug program, according to court records. The dates of the violations were July 4 and July 7 of 2015.
