Authorities Tuesday identified a murdered woman who ran to a neighbor for help after arguing with her husband before the pair died in a Lancaster murder-suicide.
The pair died at the scene of the shooting, which occurred about 12:20 a.m. Monday in the 6300 block of Starview Drive, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.
The coroner’s office identified the woman Tuesday as 35-year-old Jamie Matthews. The name of her husband, who was in his 30s, was withheld, pending family notification.
Deputies found the woman dead at a neighbor’s property and found her husband dead inside the couple’s nearby residence, according to the sheriff’s department.
The preliminary investigation revealed they got into an argument and the woman left the residence to go to a neighbor’s house, according to the sheriff’s department. Her husband followed and shot her in front of the neighbor’s residence, then returned to their home and shot himself, investigators said. No one else was inside the home when the shooting occurred.
