A man has been charged with murder and other counts for an alleged DUI crash in Temple City that killed a woman and her 10-year-old daughter, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.
Diego Santoscruz, 27, is set to be arraigned Sept. 24 in an Alhambra courtroom on two counts each of murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
He is also facing allegations that he had a prior DUI conviction within 10 years and that the crash caused bodily injury or death to more than one victim and great bodily injury, court records show.
The charges stem from an Aug. 17 collision in which Santoscruz was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol when he struck the victims’ vehicle head-on near the intersection of Temple City Boulevard and Gidley Street, according to prosecutors.
Jennifer Argueta and her daughter, Sabrina, were killed in the crash, the girl’s father was injured, and a passenger in Santoscruz’s vehicle was also injured, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Santoscruz has remained in custody since he was arrested early the day after the crash, according to jail records.
