Investigators Sunday searched a home and detained a person of interest for questioning in connection with the killing of a man found dead in a Palm Springs hotel bathtub.
The victim was found at noon Saturday when officers were called to check on the man after he had failed to check out of the Musicland Hotel, 1342 South Palm Canyon Dr., at the required time, the Palm Springs police Department said.
“The death appeared to be suspicious, which resulted in the response of the PSPD Detective Unit. The initial investigation revealed the death was a homicide,” police said.
Nobody else was in the room when the victim was found, according to investigators.
Detectives followed several leads in the case and identified a person of interest.
A search warrant was served Sunday at a home in the 73000 block of San Nicholas Avenue in Palm Desert where the person of interest was detained for questioning, police said.
However, the relationship between the victim and the person of interest, as well as a possible motive, remains sketchy.
“Details will be released as the investigation permits,” police said.
