Newport Beach police will release a snapshot of the suspected killer of an 11-year-old girl Friday on the 45th anniversary of her unsolved abduction and murder.

Linda Ann O’Keefe, who lived in Corona del Mar, was last seen alive walking home from summer school on July 6, 1973. Her body was recovered the following morning in the Back Bay area.

Starting at 7:45 a.m. Friday the police department will use its Twitter account to begin periodically releasing a narration of “the last hours of her life” that will continue through Saturday morning.

The tweets will include photographs from the crime scene and a newly created “snapshot” of the suspect that was put together by scientists at Parabon NanoLabs. The tweets will conclude with a video that includes interviews with the detectives who have worked on finding the girl’s killer through the years.

Newport Beach police recently hired Parabon, a Virginia-based DNA technology company that specializes in a process that uses genetic material to build a sort of composite sketch of a suspect at 25 years old and how the killer might look Thursday.
