A 19-year-old Inglewood resident was charged Monday with murdering two men, one of whom he was dating.
Christian Francisco Veliz made his initial court appearance on two counts of murder with a special circumstance allegation of multiple murders, along with gun and great bodily injury allegations, but his arraignment was rescheduled to May 22.
The victims, 27-year-old Christian Martinez, and 39-year-old Saul Reyes, were found shot to death in a car parked on the 3600 block of West 107th Street in Inglewood early on the morning of April 30. Prosecutors said Veliz had been dating Reyes, and believe the shooting happened the day before the bodies were found.
Veliz is being held in lieu of $2 million bail, according to the sheriff’s department website.
If convicted as charged, he would face the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole. Prosecutors will decide later whether to pursue capital punishment.
