Authorities Thursday announced a $50,000 reward for information that helps solve a fatal shooting in the Arlington Heights area of Los Angeles that targeted a man and his adult daughter as they sat in a parked vehicle with the man’s two grandchildren.
The crime occurred about 12:45 a.m. on July 20 in the 1600 block of South Van Ness Avenue, near Venice Boulevard, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.
The driver, 56-year-old Lucio Garcia, died at the scene. His daughter was grazed, but her children were not injured.
The gunman, believed to be about 20-25 years old, approached the vehicle, opened fire and ran off.
“He didn’t deserve to die that way,” Garcia’s daughter Vanessa Garcia said at a news conference at the shooting scene. “It’s hurts every day he’s not here.”
Police have not established a possible motive and urged anyone with information about the case to call them at (213) 382-9470.
After-hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to (877) LAPD-247.
Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers by calling (800) 222-TIPS.
