Murder and attempted murder charges were filed Wednesday against a Fullerton man accused of fatally stabbing his 50-year-old mother and wounding her 75-year-old boyfriend.
Arraignment was rescheduled to Aug. 25 for Ah Le Fang, 33, who also faces a sentencing enhancement for attempted premeditated murder.
Fang is accused of killing his 50-year-old mother, Lu Thao, who called police about 12:40 a.m. Tuesday to say she was under attack, according to Fullerton police Sgt. Jon Radus. He said arriving officers found the woman outside her apartment complex at 134 S. Pritchard Ave., suffering from a stab wound to her abdomen, and also located her boyfriend suffering from a stab wound to an arm, but the suspect had fled.
The victims were transported to local trauma centers, where Thao died and her boyfriend was admitted in serious condition, Radus said.
The suspect lived with the victims and his adult sister. Radus said Fang became involved in an argument with his sibling and then went to his bedroom. His mother tried speaking with Fang through his bedroom door, but he initially refused to come out of his room, the sergeant said.
When he finally opened his door, he came out with a knife in his hand and immediately stabbed his mother in the abdomen and her boyfriend in the arm before fleeing, Radus alleged.
Officers located Fang and what is believed to be the murder weapon nearby, according to the sergeant.
