A 29-year-old woman who was murdered at a motel in North Long Beach has been identified by the coroner’s office as authorities hunted the man suspected of shooting her.
The victim was identified as Lanette Washington of Long Beach.
The suspect was described as a black male in his 20s who was last seen wearing a red shirt and jeans, the Long Beach Police Department reported.
Paramedics sent to the Luxury Inn motel near Long Beach Boulevard and Cambridge Street at 9:50 a.m. Friday took Washington to a hospital, where she died, said Nancy Pratt of the Long Beach Police Department.
The suspect fled and police set up a perimeter from Gordon and Ellington streets and Long Beach Boulevard to the Long Beach (710) Freeway, said LBPD Officer D. Hughes.
The area was then combed by SWAT officers, assisted by K-9 patrols, Pratt said.
But officers failed to locate the suspect and the search was halted about 5:30 p.m. Friday, Pratt said. Authorities are still trying to locate the suspect.
