A 21-year-old man arrested on suspicion of shooting a man to death in Indio entered not guilty pleas Wednesday to felony counts of murder and unlawfully possessing a loaded firearm.
Ruben Molina of Indio entered the pleas during an initial court appearance at the Larson Justice Center in Indio. He was scheduled for a felony settlement conference on Oct. 2.
According to the Indio Police Department, officers responded to the 80000 block of Jennifer Court at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday to a report of a shooting and found a man on the ground in front of a house suffering from a gunshot wound.
The Indio Fire Department rushed the man to Desert Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries, authorities said.
Investigators identified the suspect as Molina, and he was arrested without incident around noon Saturday in the 44000 block of Avenue 44, police said.
Molina was booked at the John J. Benoit Detention Center on suspicion of murder.
The victim was identified as 23-year-old Carlos Arriaga of Indio.
