A one-eyed gang member convicted of shooting two men to death in a 7-Eleven parking lot in Panorama City in 2014 to enforce his gang’s territory was sentenced Monday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Angel Santana, 31, was convicted in September of murdering 19-year-old Deshawn Miles and Maron States, 26. Santana was also convicted of one count of attempted murder of a third victim, who was shot but survived.

The jury found true a special circumstance allegation of multiple murders, as well as gang and gun allegations.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Thomas Rubinson denied a motion by Santana’s  attorney for a new trial before handing down the sentence.

Miles and States were in a parking lot outside a 7-Eleven store in the 8200 block of North Sepulveda Boulevard on July 17, 2014, when they were approached by Santana and an accomplice, who declared their gang affiliations and told the victims to move along before opening fire.

Police said Santana was easy to identify because he was missing his left eye and had tattoos over his left eyebrow and on his jaw and neck. He was arrested roughly two weeks later at the Palms Motel in North Hills.
