A man was in custody Tuesday on suspicion of attempted murder for a robbery and shooting in March, Covina police said.
Victor Ortega, 31, of El Monte was arrested on Monday during a traffic stop, and was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and various other crimes, including being a felon in possession of a handgun and ammunition, identity theft, and resisting arrest, Covina police said.
Ortega is expected to be arraigned Wednesday at the Citrus Courthouse.
The attack left a victim wounded in the arm, police said.
“Ortega is a felon and was arrested by (the) Claremont Police Department last month for grand theft auto and possession of a loaded handgun and ammunition,” a Covina police statement said. “He bailed out, never showed up to his court hearing, and a warrant was issued for their case.”
On Monday, a Covina officer made a traffic stop and arrested Ortega after he ran from the vehicle, police said.
