A 25-year-old man accused in a Banning stabbing attack that left the victim with injuries described as life-threatening was charged with attempted murder Wednesday.
Artem Daniel Day, who is being held at the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on $1 million bail, is expected to make his initial court appearance Thursday at the Banning Justice Center.
Along with attempted murder, Day is charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
He was arrested Saturday afternoon following a report of a stabbing earlier that day in the 700 block of West King Street, where police officers found the victim, whose name or gender was not released, suffering from a stab wound to the neck, according to the Banning Police Department.
Police rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived and took the victim to an area hospital.
Later that day, witnesses reported a suspicious-looking man matching the suspect’s description near West Hoffer Street in Banning, where Day was taken into custody, police said.
A motive was not immediately disclosed, and an update on the victim’s condition was unavailable.
Day has no documented felony convictions in Riverside County.
