A Huntington Beach man was scheduled to make his initial court appearance Wednesday on a second-degree murder charge stemming from a deadly crash on the Garden Grove (22) Freeway in Westminster last year.
Trevor Lee Clemente, 31, was arrested Monday and charged in October, according to court records.
Clemente was driving west on the freeway about 1 a.m. on June 30, 2018, when the car veered to the left and slammed into a concrete center median wall just west of Springdale Street, causing the vehicle to overturn multiple times, according to the California Highway Patrol. A passenger, Elizabeth Camarena of Westminster, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Clemente was taken to Long Beach Memorial Hospital for treatment of major injuries. He was booked at the time on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, according to the CHP.
