The identify of a suspect in the 1972 kidnap and murder of an 11-year-old girl in Torrance was scheduled to be announced by authorities Wednesday morning.
Terri Lynn Hollis disappeared from in front of her home in the 2600 block of Dalemead Street on Thanksgiving Day and her body was found the following day on a cliff in Oxnard.
Two fisherman found Teri’s body below Pacific Coast Highway, just south of Mugu Rock. She was wearing only a t-shirt, according to a Los Angeles Times article from November 1972.
“Terry was my sister and (I) think it’s beautiful that her friends and others think of her,” Hollis’ younger sister, Tammy, said in a post on the website tapatalk.com dated October 2012. “I miss her and think of her almost every day. Today, investigators are still looking for that monster and I pray one day (they) find him.”
Torrance police released no details about the suspect or say if that person is still alive or in custody.
A news conference to discuss the latest developments in the case was scheduled for Wednesday morning at Torrance police headquarters. Torrance Police Chief Eve Irvine and members of the victim’s family are expected to attend.
